Veteran's Day Lesson and Cards to Give to Service Members

Greetings!

Veteran's Day is on Tuesday. I have several families members who serve in the Air Force and I am so grateful for their sacrifice to serve our country! It always warms my heart to see service men or women in prayer, knowing they are ultimately relying on God for all things!

I love this video of the men singing the "Days of Elijah!".

Here's a short devotion to do with your students or kids to do on Veteran's Day. The theme is to thank God for people who serve and protect others

🇺🇸 Veterans Day Devotion: Thankful for Those Who Serve

Ask the kids:

  • Do you know what Veterans Day is?
  • What does it mean to be a veteran?
(Explain: A veteran is someone who has served in the military—the Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines, Space Force, or Coast Guard—to help protect our country.)

Say:
Today we’re learning how God wants us to be thankful for people who serve, just like we thank God for our families, teachers, and helpers.

Read John 15:13: “Greater love has no one than this: to lay down one’s life for one’s friends.”

Explain:
Jesus showed us what love looks like—putting others first. Veterans show love and bravery by helping to keep others safe, even when it’s hard.

Ask:

  • How do you think veterans help others?
  • How can we show love like that too? (Help others, pray for people, share, be kind.)

Pray together:

Dear God, thank You for all the men and women who serve and protect our country. Please bless them and their families. Help us to be brave, loving, and thankful every day. Amen.

Thank You Cards

Have kids draw or write cards to say “Thank You” to a veteran.
(You can send them to a local veterans’ organization or give to church members who served.)

Say:
Veterans serve our country, and we can serve others too! God loves when we show kindness and thankfulness every day.

Enjoy!

God Bless!
