Put God First: A Lesson from Haggai

🌟Greetings!🌟

Have you already given up on your new year's resolutions? It's too easy to let the everyday tasks of life overwhelm us and forget about our goals or ambitions. When you feel overwhelmed, it's important to ask where our focus is! Is God first?

I was studying Haggai this week and was struck by God's command to the Israelites to put Him first. (The Israelites had recently returned to Jerusalem from exile in a foreign country and were tasked with building the temple but their efforts had stalled).

The Israelites were only focused on themselves and their own tasks. Haggai 1:5-6,9: Now this is what the Lord Almighty says: “Give careful thought to your ways. You have planted much, but harvested little. You eat, but never have enough. You drink, but never have your fill. You put on clothes, but are not warm. You earn wages, only to put them in a purse with holes in it....You expected much, but see, it turned out to be little. What you brought home, I blew away. Why?” declares the Lord Almighty. “Because of my house, which remains a ruin, while each of you is busy with your own house."

So take a moment to evaluate. Are you starting the day in prayer? Are you letting God determine your steps? If you're struggling to stick with goals or accomplish your resolutions, do a heart check and make sure God is at the center!

Our kids can be taught this same lesson “Always Put God First!"

These ready to print resources can help you drive home this important lesson from Haggai.

As you explore Haggai, you will be blessed to put God first in all you do! May God multiply your efforts for Him this week!

God Bless!
